የ2026 ዓ.ም.  ዋንዳ ዳይመንድ ሊግ የፊታችን ሴፕቴምበር አራት እና አምስት በቤልጂየም ብራስልስ ከሚካሄደው የፍፃሜ ፉክክር በፊት ከሚካሄዱት 14 ውድድሮች 11ዱን አጠናቋል። በተለያዩ አህጉራዊ እና ዓለም አቀፍ ውድድሮች ምክንያት ከአንድ ወር በላይ የሚቋረጠው ይህ ውድድር ኦገስት 21-2026 በስዊዘርላንድ ሎዛን በሚከናወነው ውድድር ይቀጥላል፡፡

በዓመቱ የነጥብ ፉክክር የመጀመሪያዎቹን ስምንት ደረጃዎች ይዘው የሚያጠናቀቁ አትሌቶች የፍፃሜው ተወዳዳሪ በሚሆኑበት የዳይመንድ ሊግ የሴቶች 800 ሜትር ፉክክር ዘንድሮ የአውሮፓውያን አትሌቶች የበላይነት ጎልቶ በመታየት ላይ ይገኛል። በአሁኑ ወቅት በርቀቱ የሴቶች ፉክክር ስዊዘርላንዳዊቷ አትሌት ኦድሬ ቬሮ በጣም ጎልታ እየወጣች ትገኛለች፡፡ ቬሮ ዘንድሮ በፓሪስ ዳይመንድ ሊግ ያስመዘገበችው እጅግ ፈጣን የሆነ 1፡53.80 ሰዓትም የዳይመንድ ሊግ እና የስዊዘርላንድ ብሔራዊ ክብረ ወሰንን ያሻሻለ የዓለም የምንግዜም ሶስተኛው ፈጣን ሆኖ የተመዘግቧል፡፡ ቬሮ በርቀቱ የምንግዜም የውድድር ታሪክ ሁለት ግዜ ከ1 ደቂቃ ከ54 ሰከንድ በታች በሆነ ሰዓት ያጠናቀቀች የመጀመሪያዋ ሴት የመሆን ገድልን ያስመዘገበችውም በዘንድሮው የውድድር ዓመት ነው፡፡

በሴቶች 800 ሜትር የዘንድሮ ዳይመንድ ሊግ ውድድሮች ላይ እየተሳተፉ ከሚገኙት ኢትዮጵያውያን አትሌቶች የፍፃሜው ተፎካካሪ ለመሆን በሚያስችላት ደረጃ ላይ የምትገኘው ፅጌ ዱጉማ ብቻ ናት፡፡ ፅጌ በራባት 2ኛ፣ በዶሀ 2ኛ፣ እና በለንደን 3ኛ ሆና ባጠናቀቀችባቸው ውድድሮች ባስመዘገበቻችው 20 ነጥቦች ከኦድሬ ቬሮ (24) እና ኪሊ ሆጅኪንሰን (22) በመቀጠል በሶስተኛ ደረጃ ላይ ትገኛለች፡፡ በራባት፣ ስቶክሆልም፣ እና ዶሀ ዳይመንድ ሊግ ውድድሮች ላይ ተሳታፊ የነበረችው ሌላኛዋ ኢትዮጵያዊት ንግስት ጌታቸው በዶሀ 6ኛ ሆና ስታጠናቅቅ ባስመዘገበችው 3 ነጥብ ለፍፃሜ ተፋላሚነት ከሚያበቃው ደረጃ ርቃ 19ኛ ሆና ትገኛለች፡፡

European athletes are currently dominating the women’s 800m event in the Diamond League, a competition where the top eight athletes in the season’s standings qualify for the final. Swiss athlete Audrey Werro is emerging as a standout performer in this event. Her blistering time of 1:53.80 at this year’s Paris Diamond League not only set new Diamond League and Swiss national records but also ranks as the third-fastest time in history. Furthermore, it was during this season that Werro achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first woman in the event’s history to clock a time under 1 minute and 54 seconds on two separate occasions.

Among the Ethiopian athletes competing in this year’s Diamond League Women’s 800m races, Tsige Duguma is the only one positioned to qualify for the final. With 20 points—earned from finishing second in Rabat and Doha, and third in London—she currently ranks third, trailing only Audrey Werro (24 points) and Keely Hodgkinson (22 points). Another Ethiopian athlete, Nigist Getachew, who competed in the Rabat, Stockholm, and Doha Diamond League meets, sits in 19th place; the 3 points she earned by finishing sixth in Doha leave her far from the qualifying threshold for the final.

The remaining two Diamond League women’s 800m races where points are awarded will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, on August 21, 2026, and in Zurich, Switzerland, on August 27, 2026.
